Clarity & Confidence at Each Step
Preparing...planning...anticipating..., then responding and adjusting. It is all part of the journey and not meant to be experienced alone! We all need support going through the various stages of life--and babies and parents are no different! As baby and parents adjust to their new roles, I am here to help you thrive as you pivot, learn, and ground yourself within the journey. I want to bring clarity and confidence to your story. Let's get started!
prenatal planning
difficulty latching
painful nursing
infant weight loss or gain
milk supply
pumping
transitioning back to work
conditions like plugged ducts or mastitis
weaning
navigating NICU feeding, during and after
...and any other lactation questions, milestones, or concerns that arise
Grounded Lactation contracts with The Lactation Network (TLN) to provide insurance-covered lactation visits at NO COST to you! TLN simplifies the sometimes complicated process of insurance reimbursement. They bill your insurance directly--which means no out of pocket costs or paper work to file on your end! Click the link to determine if your insurance works with TLN (does not apply to Aetna and Cigna insured clients). You and I would both be notified within 1-2 business days (sometimes minutes) if you qualify.
Aetna and Cigna clients, Grounded Lactation is in network and will submit directly to your insurance for reimbursement of services. Verifying insurance with TLN is not needed.
For out of network visits, Grounded Lactation will provide you with a superbill with all the information you need to seek reimbursement from your insurance company. For your convenience, we accept HSA and FSA cards for payment, along with all major credit/debit cards. Sliding scale is available for self pay clients.

About me
Emily is a registered nurse and lactation consultant. Over the years, she has found that her greatest joys professionally are in empowering and supporting parents through their unique pregnancy and infant feeding journeys. She values the opportunity to provide lactation support that is not only goal-driven and holistically sustainable, but shame free and confidence building!
She has worked in maternal-child health for over 8 years in a variety of settings including inpatient labor and delivery, mother/baby, NICU II, and out of hospital birth; currently, she also works at Dr. Holman's tongue tie clinic. This variety of experience helps her better understand your goals and appreciate and anticipate how to best support you in your journey. She is passionate about prenatal lactation visits and the opportunity to best prepare parents and eliminate those, "I wish I had known.." statements. She also has special interest in supporting parents during and after their NICU stay as well. She lives in downtown Durham with her husband and two children, but don't let that city location fool you--she is a country girl at heart!
